Who Is Counselling & Psychotherapy For?
Anyone can benefit from counselling and psychotherapy regardless of age, gender or any other demographic. Therapeutic counselling is offered to all individuals and children with a variety of difficulties including childhood abuse, eating disorders, relationship difficulties, identity and attachment, amongst others. What Might Be Involved In A Counselling or Psychotherapy Session?
A typical session of counselling or psychotherapy revolves around talking. This is based on the creation of an environment and atmosphere by Claire-Elaine that is safe and open. The development of a relationship to enable you to express your true self and feelings is the primary focus, and talking is only one method of working. Other tools that may be used include:
- Art Work
- Creative expression
- Focussing on physical sensations
- Physical release
The number of sessions that will be needed are entirely dependant on your individual needs, but can range from focussed work of about 4 to 6 session, to longer term relationship therapy that is undertaken over a longer period of time. It is most beneficial to meet weekly, for 1 hour sessions. Clear boundaries and a therapeutic contract are established in the consultation assessment, which set the stage for work to develop.

Counselling & Psychotherapy In Adoption
Claire-Elaine has many years experience of working within adoption. She has worked for Support After Adoption (Nottinghamshire Post Adoption Social Services Team), running support groups for adopted adults, facilitating therapeutic groups for young adopted people and individual Psychotherapy and Counselling. She works with adopted children and adults, birth family members and adoptive parents.
Therapeutic Energy Work
These sessions involve a combination of counselling, psychotherapy and energy work using either Reiki or Sekhem. The techniques used all work to empower each other and are available to be used creatively according to your needs, growth and development. Self-awareness, understanding and the possibility for change are all empowered. Sessions may also include mediation, family pattern healing work, creative expression, energy, spiritual or other information. Our time together in these sessions is uniquely designed to meet your specific needs.
